MyState Australian Wooden Boats visit Port Arthur

As part of the MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival held in Hobart February 8-11 2019, Port Arthur has a number of vessels visiting before and after the festival.

The Soren Larsen will visit February 6-7 & 12-13 with 37 passengers on board. This ship built in 1949 was one of the last cargo carrying ships built by the Larsen Shipyard. The Soren Larsen was a working vessel and carried cargo in the Baltic for over 20 years. She has been lovingly restored and is in Tasmania for the festival.

Visitors and locals are welcome to the site to take photos of this stunning ship, a magnificent example of a late-era wooden sailing ship.

7 February

As part of the MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival held in Hobart February 8-11 2019, Port Arthur has a number of vessels visiting before and after the festival.

The HM Bark Endeavour will visit February 7 with 40 passengers on board. This is the magnificent Australian-built replica of James Cook’s ship he sailed in his world voyage 1768-1771.

Visitors and locals are welcome to the site to take photos of this stunning replica ship.

12-13 February

The Julie Burgess will visit February 12-13 with a crew of 12.

Visitors and locals are welcome to come aboard the vessel that will be located at the Jetty. Gold coin donation admission to the vessel.

14-15 February

As part of the MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival held in Hobart February 8-11 2019, Port Arthur has a number of vessels visiting before and after the festival.

Australia’s sail training flagship, the Young Endeavour participates in events around Australia and the world and will be stopping by Port Arthur on 14-15 February with 29 passengers on board.

Young Endeavour was constructed by Brooke Marine in Lowestoft, England during 1986 and 1987. On 3 August 1987, Young Endeavour began her voyage to Australia with a crew of 24 young members who were both British and Australian. In 1988 the Young Endeavour was gifted from the United Kingdom to the Government and people of Australia to mark the Bicentenary in 1988.
