The Spooky Men's Chorale at Port Arthur
Saturday 12 July, 2014
The Spooky Men's Chorale is 'a bunch of singers from the Blue
Mountains.... a regular gaggle of dads and teachers, carpenters and
architects. Except they just happen to be a bit spooky.'
Based on the twin pillars of grand foolishness and the quest for the
perfect subwoofer-rattling boofchord, the spookies seek to commentate on
the absurdity and grandeur of the modern male armed only with their
voices, a sly collection of hats and facial hair, and a twinkle in the
eye.
They have performed to general delirium at most Australian festivals
and pillaged the UK to even more devastating effect since 2006.

"There is no chintz, no bling and no kitsch in their routine.
Instead this rugby team-size choir of boofy blokes settles for a healthy
blend of eccentricity, scariness and laughs." - The Sydney Morning
Herald
"...the wit extends to the music itself, the lunacy is broken up
with splashes of cuteness and poignancy and because of the sheer musical
excellence." - John Shand, SMH
