After Dark Package

Join us for a delicious two-course dinner at our restaurant 1830, before gathering up your lantern and following your guide out into the night on our very popular Ghost Tour.

With sweeping views of the Penitentiary, gardens and grounds, the 1830 restaurant is a perfect place to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends. Our menu uses fresh seasonal produce sourced from local growers and producers, and your After Dark package includes a glass of Tasmanian wine, beer or soft drink.

DINING AND TOUR TIMES

The 1830 Restaurant and Bar is open every evening (except Christmas Day) from 4pm with meals served from 5pm.

Ghost Tours run approximately 90 minutes and departure times vary each month; below is our regular tour schedule noting that additional tours may be added as required on the evening:

Starting from the first Sunday in April, tours depart at 6:30pm and 8:30pm
May tours depart at 6:00pm and 8:00pm
June & July tours depart at 5:30pm and 7:30pm
August tours depart at 6:00pm and 8:00pm
September tours depart at 6:30pm and 8:30pm
From the first Sunday in October through to March, tours depart at 8:45pm and 9:00pm

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Ghost Tour is a 90 minute fully-guided, lantern-lit walking tour that includes a two-kilometre walk around the site at night.

Due to the limited access through the dark recesses of our heritage buildings, the Ghost Tour is not suitable for people with restricted mobility and not wheelchair accessible.

Tours operate in most weather conditions, so make sure you’re prepared for the conditions.
