Introducing the new Paranormal Investigation Experience at the Port Arthur Historic Site
Brave souls who need more than the regular Ghost Tour to achieve their chills and thrills now have the opportunity to investigate the paranormal aspect of Port Arthur in an exciting new late night, adults-only Paranormal Investigation Experience.
Participants will be introduced to the function and operation of a number of items of specialised equipment used in paranormal investigations. Then, through the course of the evening, their guide will lead them into a number of buildings around the Historic Site which have a reputation for ghostly occurrences, where they will be able to set up the instruments and make observations and readings.
The Paranormal Investigation Experience will begin after ghost tours finish, lasting approximately 4 hours and includes supper mid-way through the investigation. At the end of the evening, participants will be given a DVD containing all the evidence collected during the night and access to follow up information regarding the findings.
One of the tour guides will be Caitlin Vertigan, who is also a scientist with a PhD in biology.
“The Paranormal Investigation Experience is a very different experience from the Ghost Tour,” said Caitlin.
“It is a much more active experience in that participants will be learning to use the various sensing instruments and observations in an attempt to collect physical data where none currently exist.”
“We have historical reports going back more than 150 years of the unusual things people have seen and felt at Port Arthur. The Paranormal Investigation Experience will aim to provide a body of scientific data that will build over time, or we may end up debunking the ghost stories entirely. Whatever happens, we will add to the value of the Site as a place of study and research.”
The first Paranormal Investigation Experience will run on Saturday February 25, 2012.
The Paranormal Investigation Experience will then operate on the last Saturday night of each month (or by special arrangement for groups) at the Port Arthur Historic Site and will be limited to just 20 people per tour, in two groups of 10.
It costs $125 per person and is not suitable for anyone under 18 years of age. Bookings are available now by phoning 1800 659 101 or at
www.portarthur.org.au.
